The annual Kachmeak Bay Writer’s Conference, currently underway in Homer, features 18 nationally recognized authors of nonfiction, poetry and fiction from Alaska and the Lower 48.
Though registration to the conference is closed, its Festival of Readings is open to the public and free of charge. All readings are in Homer.
Festival events include:
• A reading by National Book Award-winning nature writer Barry Lopez, 8 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Homer High School Mariner Theater. Doors at 7:30 p.m., seating limited.
• Readings by the following Alaska writers Sunday, June 10, 7:30 p.m. at Alice’s Champagne Palace:
